Nicosia or Lefkosia as it is called locally, is the capital city of Cyprus. Nicosia is also the largest city in the country and its business and financial heart.

Today Nicosia is a blend of rich historic past with modern developments. The heart of the city is surrounded by the 16th century Venetian walls and is the common place to visit if you are in search for medieval buildings, ancient churches and museums. Outside of these walls is the so called "New Nicosia" which emerged as an important economical and cultural centre.

Most of new development takes place on the periphery/edge of the quarter and especially in the outlying southern growth areas, where there is plethora of vacant parcels and plots and uncomplicated development sites.

The residential areas are characterized by very large and custom-built homes with solar collectors and water storage tanks on their roofs and with small "gardens".
